At the Museum's entrance is a twenty-foot, hand-carved statue of Sequoyah, the inventor of the Cherokee alphabet. Made of California redwood, this monument was chiseled in 1990 by Peter Wolf Toth, a Hungarian sculptor, who has completed several other statues across the United States featuring Native Americans. This statue took slightly over four months to carve.

The Cherokee Indian Museum also contains a unique collection of original artifacts used by the Cherokee Indians many years ago. You will learn through audio-visual presentations and displays about the untold generations of Cherokee history.
