Outfitters offers family whitewater rafting trips on the Nantahala River. Enjoy the scenic
splendor of the Nantahala National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains as you paddle the
clean, cold waters of the Nantahala. The famous 8 ½ mile long stretch of almost
continuous class 2 and 3 whitewater running between Beechertown Power Plant and Fontana
Lake makes the Nantahala River the most popular river in the Southeast! It is fun and
exciting, but does not require previous experience. Paddlers of all experience levels
enjoy the Nantahala. The river is dam controlled & has a good dependable water supply
for whitewater rafting all season long! Carolina Outfitters offers Guide-in-Boat,
Guide-Assisted, or Non-guided trips from April till November. Full river trips are 3 ½ to
4 hours total trip time with approximately 2 hours on the water itself. Children must
weigh at least 60 pounds. |
For
a full day of adventure fun choose a second trip down the river the same day at ½ price
(Paddle & Paddle) or combine our whitewater rafting trip with a gemstone mining
adventure in the Nantahala River Gorge where you can search for rubies, emeralds,
sapphires & other precious gems (Paddle & Pan), a horseback riding trip into the
scenic backcountry of the Nantahala Gorge, (Paddle & Saddle), or a bicycle trip on one
of the many scenic area bike paths, (Paddle & Peddle). We can make your reservations
for the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad scenic rail trip. We can provide you with Biltmore
Estate tickets for a tour of the magnificent Biltmore House & Gardens. We have vacation lodging in the mountains, including
vacation rental cabins, chalets, & cottages. Lodging is completely furnished, with
